The Basicss

During this class you’ll get a chance to cook a starter dish and a main curry.  You’ll also get to make chapatti from scratch. And lastly, but not least – you’ll get to make a cheeky dip that contains some interesting store cupboard ingredients and surprisingly goes with everything.

This introductory class will teach you all the basic skills and techniques that you will ever need to make a real ‘cracking curry’.

The class will also introduce you to the main spices used in Indian food, taking you on a Spice Tour.

You’ll get to know each spice through taste and smell and also learn about their versatility so that you can use them in all your cooking, not just Indian food.

served with a crisp unleavened deep-fried bread, also referred to as bhatore.  Finally, you’ll get to make sag aloo – a British favourite. This class truly is a vegetarian dream.

Indian cuisine offers a paradise for vegetarians. India as a country is abundant with vegetables, grains and pulses, which are the staple part of the resident Indian diet, even today. A huge proportion of resident Indians are vegetarian.

However, you don’t need to be a vegetarian to enjoy the rich diversity of what you can achieve with vegetables and spices, and this course will help you to appreciate the depth of these flavours.

The menu for this course includes vegetable pakoras as the starter. You’ll then get to cook chana puri which is a delicious chick pea curry
